About this Painting:
Gatsby Summer II is thickly textured multimedia abstract painting in a palette of white, ochre, indigo blue, deep red, and pink. This piece incorporates watercolor, gouache, pastel and acrylic paint. The title derives from one of my favorite books, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, The Great Gatsby. The playful line work and Easter egg color palette…these sophisticated pastels are reminicent of Gatsby’s famous shirts that Daisy sobs over. This is a dream painting… stuck in isolation, and fantasizing and romanticizing summer. Swimming, parties, frivolity and joy. This piece was created in tandem with Gatsby Summer.
