Three paintings I’ve been carrying with me this we Three paintings I’ve been carrying with me this week.

“Touch” — 48 inches of texture you can practically feel through the screen. Created in 2020. Home all day with the kids, zoom school, separation. Holding the tension of never being alone yet starved for togetherness.
It’s built from layers of movement, moments of softness set against pops of sheer energy.

“Campfire Song” and “Gather” were created together — paintings about the Midwest, blanketing snow, and the way memory moves through our minds like weather. Thick, chunky paint you can see catching the light. Both are framed and ready to hang.

All 3 pieces are about the same thing, really — being close to people.

These three originals are available through @sorellegalleryfineart

the artist, the studio, the work 🤍 Thought this the artist, the studio, the work 🤍

Thought this trend was cute…also love this song…one of the more underrated of the Cranberries. Today I’m putting finishing touches on ornaments and working on a few large abstract botanicals…what are you up to?

Some mornings I walk into this studio and forget w Some mornings I walk into this studio and forget which version of me is supposed to show up — the one with the plan, or the one with the paint.

This room has seen both. Paintings that started with a sketch and a prayer, and paintings that started because the light hit the wall a certain way and I couldn't not try. There's a kind of faith in laying down the first mark without knowing where it ends. I learned that late — I didn't return to painting seriously until I was thirty, after years of quietly assuming the acting chapter meant the art chapter was over. Everything since has felt like time I get to spend on purpose.

What I love about this season is that the work finally gets to sit. The evenings come early, the house gets quiet, and I can really look at the pieces still hanging around the studio — the ones I haven't been able to part with yet — and see them clearly. Every one of them has a story.

Today I'm curious: what's one thing your home needs more of this season?

There’s a particular quiet that settles over the s There’s a particular quiet that settles over the studio when a pair of paintings starts talking to each other. “Sea Cell I” and “Sea Cell II” were painted as siblings — the same deep blue, the same unbroken ribbon of a line — but each one wandered off in its own direction.

That line is one continuous gesture. My brush barely lifts from the surface; it just follows the loop wherever it wants to go, doubling back and crossing over itself until the whole thing feels like something breathing underwater.

They belong out in the world — over a dining table where the blue picks up the chairs, or each one holding its own wall. And “Soul Cell,” all black ink and nerve, bringing the drama to a quiet corner.

“Sea Cell I,” “Sea Cell II,” and “Soul Cell” are available as originals through Sorelle Gallery Fine Art — link in bio.
