About this Painting:
This abstract features a patchwork of color, creating a bird’s eye view of a landscape coming back to life after winter. After a year of traveling so little, the wanderlust is deep. The colors similar in value are placed next to each other creating a blurred indistinct shapes, as if viewing from up high. The palette contains neutrals and soft blues punctuated by ochre, emerald green and cobalt blue. The piece is float framed in a natural maple wood.
Above the Trees Again is part of the May 2021 collection, Signs of Life and pairs beautifully with Above the Trees Again II (shown in photos).
About the Signs of Life Collection:
This collection of original abstracts features layered moments of movement, bold pops of color on earth tones, patterns of striped lines, shapes shifting between hard edges and gradient softness and imperfect drawings scratched away.
I aimed to portray how nature moves forward and comes rushing back to life despite the harshest of winters. The earth reflects this in the flowering trees, and green stalks shooting out of frigid soil…it truly feels like all life is reawakening and coming out of the dark. The collection is inspired by botanical forms and the shifting landscape of my home garden. “Signs of Life” is also a nod to extra terrestrials as I’ve abstracted the natural life forms. We are and life is experiencing a new transmutation. Things are growing, unearthing, shedding, releasing, unfurling, grasping, reaching, birthing, sowing. The world is coming back to life after a pandemic, but it has changed.
We have changed.
