About this Painting:

This is an abstract botanical done in loose painterly strokes. The palette of soft blues is layered over handrawn lines and punctuated with ochre and peach. The abstracted flower takes reference from the clematis vines in my home garden. Bloom is part of the May 2021 collection, “Signs of Life” and pairs beautifully withVine.

About the Signs of Life Collection:

This collection of original abstracts features layered moments of movement, bold pops of color on earth tones, patterns of striped lines, shapes shifting between hard edges and gradient softness and imperfect drawings scratched away.

I aimed to portray how nature moves forward and comes rushing back to life despite the harshest of winters. The earth reflects this in the flowering trees, and green stalks shooting out of frigid soil…it truly feels like all life is reawakening and coming out of the dark. The collection is inspired by botanical forms and the shifting landscape of my home garden.  “Signs of Life” is also a nod to extra terrestrials as I’ve abstracted the natural life forms. We are and life is experiencing a new transmutation. Things are growing, unearthing, shedding, releasing, unfurling, grasping, reaching, birthing, sowing. The world is coming back to life after a pandemic, but it has changed.

We have changed.
