About this Painting:

Excavation II is a thickly textured multimedia abstract painting in a palette of white, sage green, indigo blue, ochre, and orange. This piece incorporates watercolor, gouache, pastel, acrylic paint and gold mica. It has sweeping  movement in chunks of color, with wild expressionist strokes. This painting was painted intuitively, with no plan…each stroke informing the next. It begs the viewer to come closer to see what it’s made of. The title references digging deep…both in my personal growth journey and my artistic process. This piece was created as a pair with Excavation.
